‘Works’ (The ‘Best Of’ Soundworks) #1: ‘A Musical History of Disneyland’

Welcome to ‘Works’ (Volume 1), the first installment in what will be a series of posts highlighting some our our favorite projects from the past.

First up , we have “A Musical History Of Disneyland“, a 6-CD box set that looks back on 50 years of music and sounds from the world famous theme park. Back in 2004-2005, Producer Randy Thornton and Engineer Jeff Sheridan went about the monumental task of sifting through 50 years of archival audio materials from the Disney vault. They compiled, restored, mixed and mastered these nuggets of Disney history, for the listening-pleasure of Disneyland fans worldwide. The resulting product is the definitive audio document of the park, it’s rides, music and history. The set is a testament to the powerful sentiment conjured by 50 years of memories.

Upon release of the set, Mix Magazine interviewed Randy and Jeff regarding the behind-the-scenes process that went into producing the set. You can check out the article here.

And lastly, have a look at this videoclip of Walt’s 1955 opening-day dedication speech – the audio of which, is the first track on the set.
